Feast of St Anthony of Padua

There was a great celebration of the Feast of St Anthony of Padua on Thursday evening, June 13.

The church filled up early with most of those carrying lilies to be blessed.  By the time Mass commenced at 8:00pm, there was not a seat empty in the church and unfortunately, some had to stand.  However, it was uplifting to see so many had turned out to celebrate the Feast with us on what was, after three evenings of bright fine weather, a wet and somewhat cold evening.
Fr Ulic Troy OFM, a member of the Merchant’s Quay fraternity, was, as for the previous three evenings of the Triduum, the guest preacher for the celebrations and he concluded this celebration of the Feast of St Anthony here in Multyfarnham with a closing homily befitting the great feast.  Before the final blessing with the Relic of St Anthony, Fr Ulic walked through the church and blessed the hundreds of lilies carried by those present.
